It's hot. Too hot to hike? How about an alternative activity? Let's go to the Downriver Canoe Co in Bentonville, VA (see https://www.downriver.com/tube-floats)and rent tubes for a 3 hour leisurely float down the Shenandoah River. Our friend Caroline (Reptiles Alive, check it out http://www.reptilesalive.com/) has been doing this for years and has shown Anne and me the ropes. She will guide us but it's very easy. Just put on your bathing suit, sunglasses, sunblock, insect spray, water shoes and jump in a tube and float downriver followed by your cooler float filled with beer or something else! When you get hot, jump in the river. Caroline will help us look for salamanders and things. Take a lunch to enjoy as we stop on the bank somewhere. River conditions are said to be at the low end of normal.
Reservations would be wise, so sign up and we will reserve for you
