The Buddhist path can be misconstrued as somber and full of complicated rituals, disconnected from finding and living in joy here and now, even in the face of challenging circumstances. This misconception is in stark contrast to how His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many of the greatest Buddhist masters lived, as they embodied the deep reservoir of contentment, peace, and joyfulness within them. In this study group we will uncover the methods found in Buddhism for cultivating that joyous attitude by reading, meditating, discussing His Holiness' book "The Book of Joy" as well as his book "The Art of Happiness in a Troubled World." This study group will meet twice a month for six months, participants should feel free to drop in as their schedule permits. Please obtain copies of these two books on your own. There is no required reading for the first class.
