• What we'll do
Topic: Why must we suffer? What is the point of human suffering? This question will likely remind some of you of Buddhism, and it should. There are quite a few similarities between Buddhism and Christianity. Suffering is one of the greatest challenges for the living, so it makes sense that all religions would focus on it and teach about it to some extent. So today, we will talk about what we can learn from Christianity about human suffering and the purpose it serves.
"I have cried out to God...Why did you sow these desires in my heart and then let me fall into this cage? Why must I endure this debility when my heart years not to do evil but to embrace the good..." (Magnificat, 2015, pg. 26). Why must I suffer? Why must I feel pain? Why must I be challenged to the point of brokenness and tears? Why must I be so weighed down with pain, that I fall to my knees humbled and lost?
