• What we'll do
JJ, a personal trainer, will lead us on a hike around Great Falls, Virginia on February 10 (weather permitting. If it snows, of course we will postpone to another date).
During the hike, he will share health and nutrition advice, demonstrate some simple exercises, and answer questions guests have about individual concerns, etc. Everyone is encouraged to wear comfy shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water (and lunch or a snack if you want), and don't forget your enthusiasm. We plan to walk to the Falls and back and will gauge how far we go by the interest of attendees.
Most personal trainers are mega-expensive as you know. JJ is focused on helping people and has reduced his rates to just $10 per person for this first excursion. He has dedicated himself to our group. You can't beat that!
There may be a small fee to get in the park ($10), but the pass you get is good for three days if you feel like venturing back there on Sunday or Monday. I recently priced personal trainers for myself. The going rate for most is $75 an hour. For just $20 you are getting access to the beautiful Great Falls, and personal access to JJ, who is just amazing.
Depending on how this event goes, we may make this a monthly venture. Because this club covers the DC metro area, we will select parks in other jurisdictions each month. What a fun way to see our community up close and personal!
• What to bring
Dress for the weather. Bring water and a snack.
• Important to know
I hope everyone can attend. This is a great excuse to exercise (which I personally detest LOL) -- meeting new friends and enjoying nature.
